I have 3 computers: a game-and-design-oriented PC at home, a professional workstation and my laptop at work. The first applications I launch after I boot any of these machines are Firefox and Thunderbird. Then, I browse some of the reference websites: boxes and arrows, digital web, a list apart or web break stuff, among many others. At the same time, I check some feeds I have subscribed to: 456BereaStreet, cre8d design, Jeffrey Veen (non exhaustive list). It’s a typical case of information overflow (see post on this week’s “word of the week“): I get too much information as input and don’t have enough time to process it. Some call it also technostress. As a result, I have decided to refrain from adding more items to my del.icio.us list and to my feeds. Sometimes I tend to forget that life is not only about the web…

Hi,
Happened to come across this in technorati. I’m writing about something related right now. Do you remember your sense of overload and frustration happening at a particular point in time? Was it always like this?

In fact, it started in August last year. It was related to a tough period at work. I realized it when I had more than 200 unread e-mail, and I usually have no more than 5 unread e-mails at the same time. What are you planning to do about this info btw?

Thanks for the reply. I’m just trying to talk to as many people as I can, to find out how they handle it. I want to cover it in some depth on my blog, and also improve my strategy for staying on top of things.
